"The Church That Cares and Shares"

Greater King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church is a Word- and love-centered ministry, passionately committed to evangelizing the lost and equipping the people of God to become bold witnesses for the cause of Christ.

Established in 1933, and officially chartered in 1935, our mission is to minister to the whole person—spirit, soul, and body—and to edify the Body of Christ through our witness and testimony. We are a diverse, multi-gifted ministry called to impact a hurting world with the love of Jesus Christ. We boldly proclaim both the transformative power of living a life in Christ and the eternal rewards of serving a true and living triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We are committed to the Spirit of Excellence as we strive to become an oasis of hope in the Gertown community, throughout Greater New Orleans, and beyond. We embrace freedom in worship because we believe that “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Our foundation is the unchanging Word of God—we believe and profess the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.

As we move forward in the 21st century, the Greater King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church Family seeks to distinguish itself as a leader in ministry, dedicated to excellence, and committed to meeting the needs of both our congregation, fellow man, and our community. Our Pastor ......

Elder Gerod K. Macon, Sr., Ed.D

Elder Gerod K. Macon, Sr. serves as the 5th Pastor of Greater King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, officially installed on August 31, 2025. A devoted servant of God and passionate community leader, Pastor Macon brings decades of faithful ministry and a heart for God’s people. A native of New Orleans and graduate of O. Perry Walker Senior High School, his spiritual journey began at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the late Rev. John A. Brooks, where his foundation of faith was firmly established.

Answering his call to preach in 1996, Pastor Macon delivered his first sermon in 1997, was licensed in 1998, and ordained in 2001 under Bishop Darryl S. Brister at Beacon Light International Baptist Cathedral. Over nearly 30 years of ministry, he has served in various capacities with integrity and passion, most recently as Senior Associate Pastor since 2018. Even during Hurricane Katrina’s displacement, he continued his spiritual growth under the leadership of Dr. Freddie Haynes at Friendship West Baptist Church and Bishop T.D. Jakes at The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas.

Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Macon is a dedicated educator and community advocate, currently serving as a middle school principal. He holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Social Studies Education and Biblical Studies, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. He is married to LaKiesha G. Macon, and together they are the proud parents of Gerod K. Macon, Jr. With wisdom, humility, and steadfast faith, Pastor Macon leads Greater King Solomon into a new era of spiritual growth, community engagement, and Kingdom impact.

Our First Lady...

Elder LaKiesha G. Macon

First Lady LaKiesha G. Macon, a native of Natchez, Mississippi, is a woman of grace, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Born to Mr. Darryl Tucker and Ms. Linda Gibbons, and raised in a close-knit family of ten siblings, she learned early the values of compassion, perseverance, and unity that continue to guide her life. A proud graduate of Natchez High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Having accepted Christ at an early age at Greater St. James Baptist Church in Natchez, First Lady Macon has walked faithfully with the Lord throughout her life. She served for over two decades at Beacon Light International Baptist Cathedral under Bishop Darryl S. Brister, her spiritual father, where she was licensed as a Minister in 2023 and ordained Elder in 2024. Known for her humility and compassion, she is deeply committed to uplifting others through ministry, service, and quiet acts of kindness.

Professionally, she serves as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, empowering veterans to rebuild their lives through employment and independence. Married to Pastor Gerod K. Macon, Sr., and blessed with their son, Gerod Jr., First Lady Macon stands as a devoted partner in life and ministry. Guided by her life scripture, Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” — she continues to inspire others to walk boldly in faith and purpose.
